R. Schmid
I am a lifelong Kansas
Citian, having been born and raised in the greater Kansas City metropolitan
area. I graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and thereafter
attended Washburn University. I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in History
and Political Science, graduating magna cum laude in 1977.
I attended the University
of Kansas for law school and received my law degree (J.D.) in 1980.
Following law school,
I worked for a small civil litigation firm where I gained significant
litigation experience through my participation in the Hyatt Skywalks litigation,
ongoing asbestos litigation and Dalkon Shield litigation.
In 1987, I left that
firm to practice law with the firm of Copilevitz, Bryant, Gray & Jennings,
P.C. which subsequently become Copilevitz, Bryant & Schmid, P.C. At that
firm, I was involved in all types of civil litigation including personal
injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, consumer fraud, charitable
fundraising, property insurance and workers' compensation cases.
In 1995, I left that
firm, taking James Roswold with me, to form the firm of Mark R. Schmid
& Associates, P.C. In
1999, the firm became Schmid & Roswold, P.C. Since 1995, we have focused
our energies on pursuing claims on behalf of injured parties in connection
with personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and workers'
compensation cases.
I am married and have
two boys, ages seven and eight. We enjoy many outdoor activities together,
and I try to maintain an appropriate balance between work and family.

Born and raised in
the Midwest, I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School
of Management. I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,
with an emphasis in Finance, graduating magna cum laude in 1987.
Following college, I attended law school at the University of Iowa College
of Law and received my law degree (J.D.) in 1990, graduating with high
distinction. During law school, I developed strong writing skills as a
member of the Iowa Law Review and obtained early litigation experience
as a member of the Iowa Legal Clinic.
After graduating from law school, I began my practice in 1990 as an associate
with a civil litigation firm, where I litigated personal injury, insurance,
FELA, and asbestos cases. In this short time working for an insurance
defense firm, I gained an insight into "the other side's" preparation
of a civil case, something that has been highly useful in my practice
at Schmid & Roswold, P.C. In 1993, I obtained an associate position with
Copilevitz, Bryant, Gray & Jennings, P.C. At the Copilevitz firm, I was
involved in all types of civil litigation, aggressively pursuing personal
injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, consumer fraud, charitable
fundraising, property insurance and workers' compensation cases.
In 1995, my partner Mark Schmid and I formed the law firm of Mark R. Schmid
& Associates, P.C. In 1999, the name was changed to Schmid & Roswold,
P.C. to reflect our partnership.
Together, Mark Schmid and I have over 30 years of personal injury experience.
Since 1995, our collective energies have been focused solely on representing
injured individuals. Over the years spent handling a wide range of personal
injury cases, we have concentrated in automobile and truck accidents,
medical malpractice, premises liability, wrongful death, product liability,
and workers' compensation cases.
Licensed in both Federal and State Courts in Missouri and Kansas, we take
pride in obtaining fair and just compensation for injured people throughout
both Missouri and Kansas. I am married and have three daughters.
